SMTP E-Mail Gateway

The SMTP Email Gateway allows users to send and receive faxes via email. It generally requires some configuration to be performed on the mail server or in DNS.

Software Requirements

The SMTP Email Gateway requires the following software components:

Additional Requirements

  • NET SatisFAXtion License Key with the "SMTP" or "NATIVE" feature enabled.
  • The SMTP Gateway normally requires port 25, so cannot run on a server that already has a mail server running. If your server has IIS installed it may have IISs SMTP service already running. To disable it, go into the Services control panel and stop/disable the "Simple Mail Transport Protocol" service.

Make sure you already have a mail gateway name chosen, such as fax.company.com and that your mail server can route mail to fax.company.com to the fax server. For Exchange server users, you should already have a connector created that points to the fax server's IP address.

This gateway cannot be installed on the same machine as any other email server.
